Emergency Nanny – We have You Covered

Emergency nanny situations don’t have to be stressful. Our platform, Army of Nannies, can help you find a local nanny on very short notice.
There are two emergency nanny options:
A NannySitting™ search
NannySitting is our version of babysitting, where our nannies provide the care. So, if you’re looking for an emergency nanny for just a day or a couple of days, this is an ideal solution.
Many of our nannies are available for ad hoc work or seek flexible opportunities between full-time and part-time nanny positions.

It takes just a few minutes to start a search. Upon completion, you’ll be matched with local nannies searching in your area, and you can start inviting connections.
A Temporary Nanny Search
If you need more than a day or two of cover, the best approach is to follow the guided process for a part-time or full-time nanny search.

Setting up the search takes about 5 minutes, as more details are requested. However, in one of the early steps, you can mark the search as temporary and select the number of weeks of childcare you need.
Again, you can invite connections to the local and available nannies we have matched you with upon completion.

Top tip: This is the same process we advise for hotel nanny or holiday nanny searches.
In both instances, when you’ve made a connection and joined the site, the contacts you make are yours to keep. If you need them again, you can reach out to them directly; you don’t need to go through us.
Emergency Nanny Considerations
Setting the right salary: You’re asking a nanny to step in, likely at short notice, so the pay rate needs to reflect this. When creating a search, we’ll provide an average hourly rate guide for your area. But, by way of a general rule of thumb, emergency nanny roles typically fall ahead of the average pricing.
Be open and honest. Nannies are compassionate, and they’ll appreciate your candour. If there are special requirements and considerations, explain them clearly to set your nanny up for success.
Go through a (truncated) selection process: Time may not be on your side, but there are still basic checks you can and must do before making an appointment:
– Video interview
– Check references
– Eyes on ID documentation and certificates (They can bring with them)
– As a minimum, try and crossover care for a short while, even if this means the emergency nanny starting a little earlier

This free checklist will guide you through the necessary steps when making an appointment.
Keep in touch: Ensure you’re connected on WhatsApp (or a similar platform) and use your chosen platform to check-in. As it’s an emergency nanny situation, the nanny will understand.
Provide a local emergency contact: Someone local they can call on if needed in an emergency.
Have a backup: If possible, have a Plan B or Plan C lined up. This could be the nanny who came second in your search. Ask them if you can get in touch if plans fall through. If they’re between roles, they may say yes.

And do get back to those nannies who you didn’t select. After all, they reached out to help you in your moment of need.
Boost your search on our site
When searching for an emergency nanny on short notice, we recommend boosting your search to appear at the top of nannies’ match lists. This will ensure more nannies see your search.

The option to boost a search is available in your search dashboard. It costs £12 for one week or £20 for two weeks.
