Why is safeguarding important?
Ensuring a safeguarding culture in any sector is essential for safety and welfare, especially so for those working with vulnerable groups.
That’s why Personnel Checks is supporting Army of Nannies. They are actively encouraging their applicants to undergo a robust background screening process before they enter into employment.
This means nannies have affordable access to the appropriate background checks. And families can check and have peace of mind that the right standards are in place.
Which DBS check is required?
When a nanny signs up to Army of Nannies (AoN) they will be asked whether they have current Enhanced DBS Check in place. If nannies do not have one, they are invited to make an Enhanced DBS Check application with Personnel Checks.
An Enhanced DBS Check will search an individual’s criminal record for cautions, warnings, reprimands and convictions (both spent and unspent).
Due to the nature of the role, this check will also include a search of the DBS’s Children’s Barred List. The police force then shares any relevant information they may hold on the applicant.

How to apply for an Enhanced DBS Check…
AoN applicants that require an Enhanced DBS Check are directed to a specific page on the Personnel Checks website.
Our Applicant Engagement team will guide you quickly and easily through every step of the application process.
Applying through Army of Nannies entitles you to a discounted rate of £53 for the Enhanced DBS Check.
Securing your Enhanced DBS
To start the process, simply create your profile on ArmyofNannies.com and then email email@example.com to receive your bespoke link to the Enhanced DBS offer with Personnel Checks.
Follow Personnel Checks’ process
When you get your email from Army of Nannies, it will share a unique link to Personnel Checks. That takes you through to a special Personnel Checks webpage where you can start the process of getting your Enhanced DBS.
Click on the ‘Apply Now’ button, make your payment of £53, and you are on the way. Below is an example of what the webpage looks like.
You’re now in a 3-step process to getting your Enhanced DBS
On payment, Personnel Checks will send you a detailed guide confirming next steps.
Step 1 – Complete your Enhanced DBS application.
You’ll be sent login details and easy-to-follow instructions.
Step 2 – Complete ID verification.
Once you’ve completed your DBS application form, you’ll need to have three ID documents verified at the Post Office. They’ll tell you which ones.
Step 3 – Send copies of your ID documents to Personnel Checks.

NB: Due to the pandemic, applicants no longer have to verify their ID documents at the Post Office. Instead, they can scan their docs and email, or send pictures of their ID documents to straight to Personnel Checks by either Whatsapp or email. Contact details are shared within Personnel Checks’ application process.
